How do I get started?

  • Read the CUworld.com Partnership Agreement.  You'll receive an e-mail welcoming you to the program and giving you instructions on how to get started. We typically review registration forms within one to two business days. After you have  been approved, you'll receive another e-mail with detailed instructions.

  • CUworld will create a unique promotional code for you that you make available to your friends/club/organization, this promotion code may feature your CUworld VideoChat room name or member name.

  • Once your CUworld Referral account has been set up, CUworld will provide helpful marketing tips, provide you with email templates, banners and graphics.

  • You'll automatically be eligible to earn referral fees for sales generated by your links once your account has been approved.

  • When your CUworld Referral account has been approved. You'll be able to review your earnings and traffic reports through quarterly reports*. The reports will show you what your visitors are buying, how much they are buying, and what your earnings are on those purchases. With that information, you can optimize your store and make the most of your relationship with us.  Referral fees are paid by check at the end of each quarter.

Does it cost anything to become an CU Referral?  No, there are no fees of any kind for applying to and participating in the CUworld.com CU Referral Partnership Program. There is no charge to apply, we only require a minimum of $150.00 in CUworld members subscriptions generated through your promotional code within the first 30 days of being approved.  The dollar amount of the CUworld member subscriptions can be comprised of any combination of accounts.  For example: 10 Club Memberships or 5 Basic + 2 VIP + 5 Club Memberships or 5 VIP memberships.  Members can come and go, but so long as you maintain some combination that equals $150.00/month you have reached your minimum CU Referral program requirement.   You will receive quarterly reports from our 3rd party supported tracking company, Via Subscription. You start earning right away.

Do I need a Web site qualify for the CU Referral Program?  A web site is not required, but we do recommend that you have a web site.  Most CU Referral rooms will qualify to participate in the program; however, we may reject your CU Referral room if we determine it is unsuitable. Examples of sites/CU Referral rooms that would NOT qualify for participation include: anything that promote sexually explicit material; violence; discrimination based on race, sex, religion, national origin, physical disability, sexual orientation, or age; illegal activities; or  violate intellectual property rights.

Can I participate if I live outside the United States?  Yes, you may participate in the CU Referral Partnership Program if you live outside the United States. We suggest that you read the complete text of the Operating Agreement before you join. Please note that referral fees are paid in U.S. dollars.

What sorts of communications will CUworld.com send me?  We will occasionally send you email messages that include merchandising tips, site news, special offers for partners and important updates.

Can a nonprofit join the CU Referral Program?  Yes, we have learned that direct payments from a for-profit enterprise could interfere with non-profit status. The concern is such that being named the direct beneficiary of any for-profit operation, they run the risk of being deemed to be engaged in a for-profit activity.

Many major corporate giving campaigns handle this by pledging to pay the equivalent of the proceeds to the named non-profit as a donation. If you named them the payee, and your account earned more than $600.00 in fees this year, we'd actually file a 1099 form with the IRS naming the payee as a contractor who'd received a taxable amount of income from our partners program - a legal requirement.

We prefer that the CU Referral partner accept the income and then make an independent donation in the same amount to the desired beneficiary. This keeps the boundaries clear and avoids any unintended consequences that might otherwise befall your charity.
